Families First Act Information and Staying Productive

In light of our current situation, many of our customers have altered their daily processes, both in the field and in the office.  If you are seeing a lull in activity due to this, perhaps this is a good time to catch up on internal projects that you never seem to have time for.  Below are some ideas to consider but we would like to first address the Families First Coronavirus Reduction Act as is relates to tracking this in your Payroll System.

Families First Coronavirus Reduction Act of FFCRA

There are still some questions regarding how the act will be administered, OR what your software vendor will provide in order to track and report FFCRA information. In any event, you will need to be ready to track these wages as early as this Wednesday, April 1.  Below are some suggestions you can implement to get you started.  We are closely monitoring this with Sage and they will be providing updates as they develop.

Sage 100 Contractor: We believe that the best option for tracking wages for Medical Leave and Sick Leave specifically associated to this Act is to create new pay calculations for each of these.  If you need assistance with this, you can contact your Sage 100 consultant directly or our Support Hotline to log a case.  Our Hotline information is outlined below.

Sage 300 CRE: Sage has posted a Knowledgebase Article (103997) on how to set up new Pay IDs in the system to track these wages.  Click here to read the KB article.  If you need assistance with this, you can contact your Sage 300 CRE consultant directly, or our Hotline to log a case.  Our Hotline information is listed below.

You can also contact Sage Support directly for assistance with this, however they may be experiencing high call volume and long wait times.

Ideas on Staying Productive

Aktion is a firm believer in practicing Social Distancing and Stay at Home policies and are following the protocols and policies set forth in our specific regions.  We also believe that we can be very effective providing quality services remotely.  Here are some ideas for some engagements we can help with during this downturn.

Data Archiving: Data Archiving is a process that requires a dedicated accounting system and a lot of concentration.  It is a good idea to keep your data organized. Archiving data will also help with the performance of the system, especially reporting.  If you have some down time, this is a good time to get your data organized and manageable.

Process Reviews: Have you ever wondered if there was a better way to do things?  Now, might be a good time to document your current process and determine which ones are inefficient or ineffective.  An Aktion application consultant can help by reviewing your current processes and find some efficiencies.

Reports and Inquiries: One of the best ways to create efficiencies is to create better reporting and inquiries.  If you have reports that you have been meaning to develop or if you are creating reports manually, Aktion can assist you with this development.

Software Upgrades: Software upgrades also require a dedicated system and time.  If your network infrastructure or Sage Applications are lagging behind, now is a good time to consider scheduling a system upgrade.  The most current version of Sage 300CRE is V 18.4.1 and Sage 100C is V 22.3.66.  What version are you on?

Aktion Associates is here to assist you with improving your operations and organizational efficiencies.  Now is good time to reach out to your Sage consultant and see how we can help with some of these projects.  If you are unsure of who your Sage consultant is, feel free to reach out to me to get one assigned.

Thank you,

Chris
