Aktion Sponsors Student Competition

Aktion partnered with the American Society of Civil Engineers to help prepare students for a career in the Construction industry.

Aktion Went Back to School

Aktion Associates was the Technology Sponsor for the Student Days competition held July 19 through July 23 in Arlington, VA. Student Days is an annual student competition held by the Construction Institute (CI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). More than 50 students participated this year.

As the Technology Sponsor, Aktion provided access to Sage Estimating and eTakeoff to the students for the competition. The solutions were hosted in Aktion’s Cloud and students were provided licenses to access the software.

Aktion’s Senior Estimating Consultant Tim Cooke spearheaded Aktion’s participation in this event. “It was an exciting opportunity for Aktion,” Cooke said. “We felt it was important to participate in this event and help educate the next generation of Construction industry professionals on the technology they would be using in the future,” he added.

What is Student Days?

The program simulates a General Contractor’s response to an RFP from an owner trying to build an exciting project.  Top engineering students who have a passion for the construction industry participate in the competition from across the country (including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico) together to put on an exciting competition in front of working industry professionals looking for new talent.
