This standard format is then mapped back into a company's back-end Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software so purchase orders, invoices, advanced shipping notices (ASN) and other documents can be generated through the regular accounting process. Once that document is generated in the ERP it is translated to a standard EDI document using EDI software, then submitted to a trading partner via a Value-Added Network (VAN) or via real-time communication solutions like AS2.
